Thomas Hamilton, 69, of Moosic, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. He was born in Moosic, June 11, 1952 and was the son of the late Vernon and Louise (Barrett) Hamilton.
Thomas was a member of Queen of The Apostles Church, Avoca. He attended St. Mary’s School, Avoca, and graduated from Riverside High School class of 1970. Tom was employed at Topps Chewing Gum until the time of its closing. He then worked as a self-employed truck driver and drove as a sub-contractor for many area trucking companies.
Thomas served as the Chaplin of the Sons of the American Legion of Moosic Post #604. He was also a member of many local social clubs. Thomas was a very kind and generous man that was devoted to his church, his family, and his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Lynn Payne Hamilton, who died January 25, 2021; his sister Mary Lou Burch; brothers Lawrence “Larry” Hamilton and Joseph Hamilton; and his sister-in-law Murlene Hamilton.
Thomas is survived by his brother, Robert Hamilton and wife Marybeth Coleman, of Moosic; his sister Suzanne and her husband Leon Mickiewicz, of S. Abington Twp.; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Darlene Dunay and Dr. Henry Yeager for the excellent care provided to Thomas over the years.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 11:00am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca. With Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for a visitation on Wednesday morning, July 14, 2021, from 10am until time of mass. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Avoca.
