Thomas Hammon

Thomas Hammon, 75, of Dupont, passed away on March 16, 2023 at The Gardens at East Mountain for Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Dupont, June 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Harold and Anna Hammon.

Thomas was a graduate of Northeast High School and attended Wilkes-Barre Vo-Tech. Thomas served with the United States Coast Guard. Prior to his illness, he worked for Air Brake and Equipment Company, Moosic as a tractor-trailer mechanic and parts department manager.


Thomas was the big brother every family wanted, always thinking of other needs even when he was disabled. He volunteered at local food drive giveaways along with his mother and brother David. Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David Hammon and George Robert Hammon.


Surviving are his sisters, Beverly Hammon, Dupont, Suzanne Podejko, (David) Norwalk, CT, Annette Stamper (Gregory), Akron, OH; niece Michelle Jones, (Matthew); nephews Michael Stamper (Ashanty), Bryan Stamper, and Brad Stamper; great nephews Gabriel Stamper and Marshall Jones; and his sister-in-law Laurie Hammon.


Tom’s family would like to thank the residents and staff at The Gardens at East Mountain for befriending Tom during the short time he was there. He very much enjoyed sitting on the patio and taking part in arts and crafts classes. Also a thank you to Dr. Richard Weinberger and his staff for the great care they gave Tom over the last 28 years of his illness.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 12:00pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Elder Brian Leonard of the Wyoming Valley SDA Church officiating, Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 11:00am until time of service. Interment will be held at St. Michael’s Byzantine Cemetery, Pittston.
