William Dale, 89, of Duryea, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Born in Old Forge on April 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Harry and Ruth Ann (Osmolia) Dale.

William was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church in Duryea. He attended Old Forge High School before enlisting into the U.S. Navy in 1956, where he proudly served for 20 years. During his military career, he served through the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1975 with the rank of E-8 Senior Chief Petty Officer. After his military service, William worked as a civilian employee for Schott Optical in Duryea, the Tobyhanna Army Depot, and Coca-Cola in Pittston.
William was known for his remarkable mechanical ability; he could fix just about anything. Skilled in carpentry, electronics, welding and all things mechanical; he was always ready to lend a hand. He also had a deep passion for his antique car collection. But his greatest treasure was his wife, Dolores and their family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Klimasiewfski; his sister Alice; and his brothers, Robert and Freddie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dolores Fortini Dale; his children, William Dale Jr. of Avoca, Debbie Collins and her husband Roy of Pittston Twp., Michael Dale and his wife Angela of Avoca, and Diane Klimasiewfski and her husband Norman of Harding; Â 10 grandchildren; 9 great -grandchildren; a his sisters, Jeanie Dale of Pittston, Dolores Thorne of Old Forge and Sally Dale of Scranton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 6:00pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with Fr. Michael Bryant of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston.Â
Friends may call for visitation on Tuesday evening from 5:00pm until time of services.
