Zachary P. Bryk

Zachary P. Bryk, 22, of Dupont, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023, from injuries pertaining to a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Dupont May 15, 2000 and was the son of Amanda Rice Bryk and the late Walter Bryk, Jr.

Zachary was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 2018. He joined the United States Marine Corp in August of 2018 and was discharged in August of 2022. He was a proud decorated Marine having obtained the rank of Lance Corporal. He was deployed four times in his four years as a solider to the US border, Syria, Kuwait, and the Island of Tinian. Zachary was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and excelled in the sport of archery. He was a member of the Shiney Mountain Gun Club, Springbrook and the Dupont Polish Club.

Zachary was loved. He had a heart of gold that only a selective few knew. He was sarcastic and funny and had the biggest smile that would light up a room and a mustache to match. He was the best son a mom could ask for. He was my world and my world will never be the same without my “Zackie” in it.

In addition to his father Walter, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Marvin Rice, uncle Robert Rice, his paternal grandparents; Walter Bryk, Sr. and Florence Bryk and his uncle Donny Bryk.

Zachary is survived by his mother Amanda Rice Bryk and her companion James Haddock; his grandmother Carol Rice, of Avoca; his aunt Sherry Cebular and her husband Jason, of Harrisburg; uncle James Rice, of New Mexico, and his aunt Nicole Jones and her husband Lee, of Wapwallopen. Also surviving are his girlfriend whom he loved dearly, Clare Karotko; his mentor and cousin Joseph Krutulis, who played a major roll in Zack’s life; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends and his military brotherhood.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at 10:00am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating.

Friends may call for visitation on Friday, February 3rd from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. There will be no procession from the funeral home on Saturday morning. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for the mass. Active members of the United States Marine Corp will provide full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donors choice in memory of Zachary Bryk.
