Irene (Haduch) Jacek, 86, of Avoca, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 28th. She was born in Duryea, February 15th, 1930 and was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Bednarczyk) Haduch.
Irene was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish, (SS Peter and Paul Church), Avoca. She was a 1948 graduate of Duryea High School. The majority of Irene’s life was dedicated to the care of her family. She enjoyed working outdoors in her yard. Irene was a fantastic baker and loved to provide baked goods to her family and friends. She was very much devoted to her Catholic faith. Irene was a loving mother, and wife of 60 years to her husband, Chester, who died on Easter Monday April 6th, 2015. A loving sister, aunt and friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Chester Jacek, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas, Frank, and Joseph; and her sisters, Helen Levandowski and Genevieve Haduch.
She is survived by her children, Raymond Jacek of Jenkins Twp. and Annette Jacek of Harrisburg, and many nieces and nephews.
Irene’s family would like to thank Dr. Martin Moran and his staff for the excellent care provided to Irene for over 17 years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1st at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Parish, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, March 31st from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
