Shirley Skrzysowski, 81, of Dupont, passed away on February 11, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center with family by her side. Born at her family home in Suscon, PA on January 10, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Suzanne Swor Appel.
Shirley was a graduate of Pittston Township High School, class of 1958. She was employed at Consolidated Cigar in West Pittston and for 33 years at Wilkes-Barre Vocational Technical School, where she eventually retired.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune on TV, having breakfasts and sometimes dinner and always the coffee at Agolino’s in West Pittston. Shirley was a people person and enjoyed meeting new people and always had a kind word and a smile for everyone.
Surviving are her husband, Stanley, at home; son Ronald, at home; daughter Karen Dorbad and husband Joseph, Dupont; daughter Lisa and husband Richard Hynick, Hunlock Creek, sister Nancy Appel; grandsons Joseph Dorbad and wife Trudi, Avoca; Richard Hynick, Hunlock Creek; great-grandson Cameron Dorbad.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Molter.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mauer Biscotti, Dr. Bruce Saidman, and Dr. Gary Verazin for their excellent medical care for her over the years. The family would also like to thank the staff members from these medical offices especially Priscilla, Derek, and Lisa from the Medical Oncology office and staff members from the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital operating room.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday February 17, 2022, at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
